It’s an easy thing to say “change your thoughts, change your life”, but it begs the question, how do you change your thoughts? I’ve found many, many times in my life, that I’ve set goals only to find myself coming up with every reason under sun for not working toward ‘em. None of these things were outside the realm of possibility for me and these were things I really wanted for myself! If they were achievable AND I wanted them, then why was I fighting myself?
Throughout our lives we all suffer setbacks, failures, and trauma. In response, we create protection patterns in response to these situations. Patterns that are supposed to help us avoid future pain! In those moments, we’re doing the best we can. Unfortunately, those patterns often stay with us long past their usefulness and we end up in the situation I described above. These patterns often short circuit our attempts at growth and change. You know this pattern… It’s the little voice in your head saying things like “why bother, I’ll just fail anyway.” While these patterns MAY prevent a similar situation from happening again, they will definitely limit personal growth.
In my years focusing on wellness, I have, and many of my clients have, run into this problem often enough that I went searching for a solution. I discovered EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, which is also known as Tapping. EFT is a technique that uses the meridian lines in the body along with intentional statements to release old thought patterns. It’s incredibly useful for moving past limiting beliefs that are hindering your forward progress.
I am regularly blown away at how effective EFT can be. It’s not uncommon for people to not only release a limiting belief, but to not even remember they had it in the first place! In my experience, it is an incredible tool to help you move toward your goals. Growing is always uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t be total misery. If you’re having trouble meeting your goals, there may be more to it than just forcing your way through.

I was feeling extremely overwhelmed towards the end of 2021. I have OCD and it was getting almost unbearable. Doing tapping mediation with Ben helped so much. Ben is extremely patient and sympathetic. He walked me through the entire tapping meditation. It was really easy to follow and gave me immediate relief from my anxiety. EFT sessions are 90 minutes and cost $100. Most people need several session to see marked improvement. Sometimes people have a lot of success with a single session, but it often takes a few sessions to see major benefits. But many practitioners recommend three sessions before you decide if EFT is the therapy for you.
